Daily MP Position Report and Plus Report Data Fields & Definitions

The MP (market participant) position report, available via the web and historically by subscription, can be viewed by issue or by market participant for the previous trading day.

Issue-Specific Data Fields & Definitions

Requests by issue symbol will return a list of all market participants that have a status within the requested issue.

Column Heading Definition
MPID The four character identifier of the market participant.
Firm Name The company name of the market particpant.
MP Type The type of the MP Position.

 

Allowed values:

  • C - Electronic Communications Network (ECN)
  • M - Registered Market Maker
  • NR - Non Registered MP, generally Order Entry only
Status The end-of-day status of the market participant's registration position within the issue, from the Previous Day.

 

Allowed values:

  • A or Active - A quoting or order entering participant in the issue.
  • E or Excused Withdrawn - The market participant has requested to be removed temporarily from the issue for special circumstances, such as a religious holiday, compliance requirement, system failure, etc. Also, ECN's assume this state when they do not have size at the inside.
  • F or Functionally Excused - The status of a MP when registered in a CQS issue, and is temporarily not quoting the issue. (CQS Issues Only.)
  • S or Suspended - The market participant has been suspended from the issue. Suspensions are usually imposed by NASDAQ® Market Operations and occur across the board for all issues in which a market participant is registered.
  • W or Withdrawn - Market participant no longer wish to make a market in the particular security, at least for a period of time and has self withdrawn from the quoting of the security.

Market Participant-Specific Data Fields & Definitions

Requests by market participant will return all of the issues for which a firm has a status.

Column Heading Definition
Symbol The four character identifier of the market participant.
Security Name The company name of the market particpant.
Market Category The market category of the issue.
  • Q - NASDAQ Global Select MarketSM
  • G - NASDAQ Global MarketSM
  • S - NASDAQ Capital MarketSM
  • I - Other Exchange Listed Securities
MP Type The type of the MP Position
